Why grade definitions can differ
Grade names are market shorthand, not a universal engineering standard. Define allowable repairs, appearance, damage, contamination, and performance in your own acceptance language.
Repairs and companion stringers
A repaired pallet may include companion stringers, plugs, or replaced boards. Decide which repairs your operation and customers accept before ordering.
Appearance versus performance
A cleaner-looking pallet is not automatically right for a given rack or load. Separate appearance needs from construction and functional requirements.
Writing an acceptance specification
Write measurable rejection criteria where possible: missing boards, protruding fasteners, broken blocks, unacceptable markings, odor, contamination, or dimensional variance.
Specifications, regulations, safety rules, and customer requirements can change. Verify technical and regulatory decisions with the relevant authority or qualified professional.
